Study in convenient eight-week blocks
Following the overwhelming success of the revolutionary VU Block Model with undergraduate students, we have rolled out the Block Model to our postgraduate courses.
This course is delivered in eight-week mode, which means you study two units (subjects) at a time over eight weeks (or one unit at a time over eight weeks for part-time study), rather than juggling several units at once. Learning outcomes
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. | Demonstrate knowledge of key theoretical project management frameworks and processes and apply them to a range of construction project management scenarios; | ||
2. | Develop an understanding of projects, the roles and responsibilities of a construction project manager, recommendations, professional decisions, and communicate with specialist and non-specialist stakeholders; | ||
3. | Plan, construct and manage the delivery of efficient, and effective strategies and inputs over the course of the construction process to achieve value for money on diverse and complex projects in alignment with Construction Extension to the PMBOK Guide, taking into account of social, economic, & environmental sustainability; and | ||
4. | Conceptualise and critically apply project risk management, make risk identification an integral component of sustainable decision-making in projects and construct a risk management plan. |
What's a unit?
A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.
Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take and optional elective units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.
Credits
Each unit is worth a set amount of study credits based on the amount of time you study. Generally, 1 credit is equal to 1 hour of study per week.

The amount you pay for your course depends on whether you’re offered a Commonwealth supported place (CSP) or a full fee-paying place.
Students who enrol in a:
- Commonwealth supported place pay tuition fees that are partly subsidised by the Australian government
- full fee-paying place need to pay the full amount for all enrolled units before census each study period.
In addition to your tuition fees, you may also be charged a Student Services & Amenities Fee (SSAF).

Completion of an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in a similar discipline
OR
Applicants with a minimum five (5) years approved work experience will be considered for admission to this course.
