This unit (EPM5760) aims to identify the roles of a construction project manager and to review contemporary and emerging construction structures. Appropriate forms of traditional and non-traditional project delivery options such as D&B, GMP, BOO/BOT are considered, along with the use of modern project management frameworks. Additional topics include occupational health and safety, construction risk management; effective resource and quality planning as well as scope, cost and time planning for construction projects.

Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:
  1. Articulate and implement advanced project management concepts and methods to enable students to assist with overall planning and management of construction projects;  
  2. Formulate effective and efficient quality assurance strategies for the successful delivery of a complex construction project;  
  3. Determine and plan resources required for a complex construction projects; and  
  4. Investigate occupational health and safety (OH&S) requirements as well as risk management practices required for construction projects.
