Industry Capability Network (ICN) Victoria helps state government find the industry skills needed to complete public projects, by connecting them with the right businesses.

VU’s partnership with ICN Victoria aims to grow workforce skills in procurement (process of purchasing goods and services), including ethical business techniques for procurement.

About ICN Victoria

ICN is a network of procurement and supply-chain specialists who introduce businesses to industry projects across Australia and New Zealand.

The network was created more than 35 years ago to increase economic activity and employment opportunities for local industry.

ICN Victoria's role in matching state-government projects with its network of more than 20,300 suppliers across Victoria aligns with VU’s mission to drive education, training and employment in the west of Melbourne.

Our collaboration

ICN Victoria and VU signed a Memorandum of Understanding in May 2022, formalising the partnership.

Working in partnership, VU and ICN Victoria are now:

  • Co-located at VU City Campus – As part of VU's flipped-campus model, the partnership gives students the opportunity to connect with the ICN Victoria team and ICN's extensive business member network.
  • Offering placements where students apply their skills in procurement – From supply-chain modelling to data analytics and more, business students apply their skills and knowledge on placement working with ICN professionals. Academic support from VU teaching staff is available in the same building.
  • Delivering VU professional training and microcredentials for the ICN Victoria industry network – VU offers a range of microcredentials that respond to industry needs and requirements, delivered by renowned instructors with hands-on industry experience and academic insight. 
  • Providing graduate pathways and connections – Victoria University benefits from ICN Victoria’s extensive industry network.

 

Partnership announcement

The three-year partnership was announced at a formal opening of the University’s new 32-storey City Tower in Melbourne’s CBD, where ICN was the building’s first industry partner tenant.
