This unit (BMO6506) examines the major organisational system issues that managers need to understand and respond to in the context of significant changes in the world. These issues are considered in terms of the interaction between people and the organisational context within which they work. The unit emphasizes two approaches. First, to gain knowledge and understanding of human behaviour and organisational systems/structures through applied learning opportunities and, in the process, learn how to be a more effective leader and manager. Fundamental concepts about organisations, individuals and groups in relation to leadership and management are themes included. Second, because reflective practice is at the heart of critical thinking, students will be asked to take a critical approach to their practice, and the context in which they work.
