Global supply chains span multiple continents and countries. Technology is creating new markets and industries. Business leaders have to navigate an increasingly complex and volatile world that brings challenges, opportunities, and risks.
To become a successful leader and manager, you require the knowledge, skills, and experience for an international business career. Whether you find yourself living and working in Melbourne, Mumbai, Beijing, or Boston, the VU Master of Business Administration (Global) will give you the edge to succeed in today's international business environment.
Industry experts helped design the MBA (Global). This innovative, applied course has the following features:
- a robust focus on global business issues
- learning with industry experts through a business internship
- practical application of knowledge to real-life problems
- business consulting with real clients
- career skills development
- digital and technological expertise acquirement.
You will develop 'soft' skills to complement your global business acumen, including communication, influencing, team management and ethical awareness.
Our students have a range of prior work experience, so our course will help you achieve the level best suited to you, preparing you for entry-level management or more senior managerial roles.
Global focus
Modern-day businesses operate in an ever-shifting, global environment, where success depends on flexible and creative leaders.
The MBA (Global) helps you develop your analytical, creative, and interpersonal skills critical to a truly global business career.
The MBA course's focus ensures you will create more significant networks of influence and change to become a real world citizen – adaptable, resilient, and with deep concern for social justice.
Authentic learning in a workplace internship
During the MBA’s internship component, you will gain authentic exposure to the real world of work.
If you join us from another country, you will discover Australian workplace practices firsthand, working full-time or part-time during the internship. The opportunity to gain work experience will help your job prospects both in Australia and internationally.
If you are an Australian domestic student, you will benefit from an internship integrated with your existing employer so that you can progress both at work and in your study.
Capstone business consulting unit
Our Business Consulting unit will give you the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in consulting, or to act as an internal consultant within an organisation.
You will design, research and manage a business consulting project, and deliver solutions and practical recommendations to satisfy a real-world client.
You will benefit from authentic engagement with clients, and targeted feedback from experienced industry practitioners.
Employability & work readiness
The course is highly practical, emphasising applying new knowledge gained to workplace settings, making MBA (Global) graduates work-ready.
The combined experiences in the MBA (Global) prepare you for the real world of work by developing your ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ skills.
You will become adept at interpersonal skills, including:
- effective communications (written and spoken)
- pitching
- influencing
- teamwork and collaboration
- critical thinking
- ethical awareness.
We also emphasise tech-readiness so that you can apply your business skills in today's digital environment.
Fast-track your degree
If you have an Australian bachelor degree in business (or similar discipline), you may be eligible for an exemption of 48 credit points of study.
If you receive 48 credit points for previous study, you may be able to qualify with an MBA (Global) in 1.5 years, enabling you to launch your global business career sooner.
Study in convenient 8-week blocks
This course will be delivered using the VU Block Model in an eight-week mode, which means you study two units (subjects) at a time over eight weeks (or one unit at a time over eight weeks for part-time study), rather than juggling several units at once. And with its focused timetables and smaller, collaborative classes, VU’s Block Model gives you more time to connect with your peers, lecturers and industry partners, helping you to build strong professional networks.
The VU Block Model has improved our student results and engagement, and has won multiple international awards for innovation and excellence.

What's a unit?
A unit or 'subject' is the actual class you'll attend in the process of completing a course.
Most courses have a mixture of compulsory 'core' units that you need to take and optional elective units that you can choose to take based on your area of interest, expertise or experience.
Credits
Each unit is worth a set amount of study credits based on the amount of time you study. Generally, 1 credit is equal to 1 hour of study per week.
