Studying advanced theory under passionate and experienced educators, you'll further your expertise in learning and teaching practice.
The Master of Education is designed for teachers, principals, community educators, youth workers, policy-makers and other professionals whose work has an educational component or responsibility.
This course does not provide you with registration to teach in Australia.
Study in convenient four-week blocks
Following the overwhelming success of the revolutionary VU Block Model with undergraduate students, we have rolled out the Block Model to our postgraduate courses.
This course is delivered in four-week mode, which means you study one unit (subject) at a time over four weeks, rather than juggling several units at once. And with its focused timetables and smaller, collaborative classes, VU’s Block Model gives you more time to connect with your peers, lecturers and industry partners, helping you to build strong professional networks.
The VU Block Model has improved our student results and engagement, and has won multiple international awards for innovation and excellence.
Advanced standing
Students with an education background will have their prior skills and experience recognised. Applicants with a completed education qualification receive advanced standing for at least two, 24-credit-point units.
During the application process, all applicants are able to apply for advanced standing for up to half of the total course.
Flexible, diverse and supportive
The Master of Education offers flexible learning options, with online, face-to-face and evening classes.
You’ll undertake a variety of subjects across foundation, core and electives, as well as a research component.
Completion of each stage of this course gives you credit towards the next. You can choose to exit at the graduate certificate or graduate diploma level.
This course has in-built support for you, with small-group activities and assessment tasks.
Overseas study options
You can choose to complete a portion of your Master of Education degree with one of our 110 international partners.
Around the world, highly respected institutions are ready to welcome you into their community.

Credits
Each unit is worth a set amount of study credits based on the amount of time you study. Generally, 1 credit is equal to 1 hour of study per week.
