This unit (VBE1006) of study aims to provide students with an introduction to the basic principles of Contract Law, to relevant case law and to the relevant statutory provisions. The teaching approach aims to equip students with a format from which they may develop a fundamental understanding of legal reasoning as it applies to the analysis of contractual relationships.
Students will develop a working knowledge and overview of the legal system and begin to understand and use the language and terminology of Business Law. Students will gain an appreciation of contract and business law issues and begin to develop skills they can apply in their working life to avoid problem situations. Students will learn techniques to locate the appropriate law to apply law to a contract problem. The learning and teaching in the unit supports and prepares students for further study and the workplace through the scaffolded development of academic and professional skills.
