The aim of this unit is to expose students to a range of management issues in the area of new digital technology design production. The unit opens with coverage of project management principles relevant to new technology development. Established and new industry approaches are critically appraised including; agile software development, product release methodology, and content strategy. Underpinning the unit is the application of design thinking to create a series of prototypes, and we explore the strengths and weaknesses of this approach. Important industry considerations such as inclusive design, sustainability, and collaboration are also explored. The unit closes with an investigation of employee management in the context of design, for instance, the difference between a producer, project manager and product owner.
