Assessment

Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines. Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills: - interpret basic structural conventions of texts such as chronological sequencing of events, identification followed by description; - draw on a range of de-coding and meaning-making strategies to make sense of texts, and; - technology skills to access and navigate web based text to locate information of limited complexity.Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge: - representation of an author's experiences, purposes, opinions in texts; - different audiences and purposes of text types; - different representation of paper based and web based information, and; - ways in which information can be accessed and used including in digital mode.
