This unit (HBS3002) extends students' skills in understanding the ambiguities and complexity of healthcare through quantitative and qualitative research methods and interpretation. Student skills in locating, retrieving and reviewing peer reviewed journal articles are applied to specific osteopathic patient cases.

Assessment
In the 2 computer tests, students demonstrate knowledge of quantitative (Quiz 1) and qualitative (Quiz 2) research methods. In the second assessment, students develop a PICO clinical question and a developed search strategy based on Cochrane review methods, then conduct the systematic literature search, access articles and export citations into a reference manager software, to develop a literature review which answers a clinical question of their choice. In the Exercise, students analyse quantitative and qualitative data and interpret findings.
