Biomedical Science for Osteopathy 1, introduces students to fundamental principles of biomedical sciences relevant to osteopathy. These fundamental principles include anatomical principles, physiology of cells and organ systems, and homeostasis. The knowledge obtained in this unit will underpin the learning of biomedical sciences applied to the head, trunk and limbs in successive units.

Assessment
The individual worksheet aims to consolidate fundamental knowledge of structure and function of the tissues presented in the first week.
The multi-station practical examination requires students to identify anatomical structures and key steps in physiological processes. The examination will consist of multiple stations. Each station will have associated questions relating to material presented in workshop and laboratory sessions.
The third assessment is the theory paper. The full scope of the HBO1001 curriculum will be examined within this assessment, which is scaffolded by formative quiz opportunities throughout the unit content.
