Overview

Start your journey to becoming a technology expert with the Certificate III in Information Technology ICT30120 at Victoria University.

Develop your technical skills in programming, database and web development, basic cloud computing, cyber security, digital media and generalist IT support services.

You will develop industry-essential and transferable skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving and presentation skills. Plus, you'll gain customer service skills to support a range of technologies, processes, policies and clients.

Upon completion of this course you will have knowledge and skills in:

Course structure

To be awarded the ICT30120 Certificate III in Information Technology, 12 units must be completed consisting of:
- 6 core units
- 6 elective units, of which:
- at least 4 units must be selected from the elective units listed
- up to 2 units may be selected from the remaining listed elective units or from this or any other currently endorsed training package qualification or accredited course at Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 2, 3 or 4

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who are competent in a range of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) roles, including animation, basic cloud computing, basic cyber awareness, digital media skills, generalist IT support services, networking, programming, systems and web development.

Most jobs today involve technology and nearly all jobs of the future will revolve around technology. This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in a wide range of general information and communications technology (ICT) technical functions and to achieve a degree of self-sufficiency as an ICT user.

Individuals working at this level will be able to support information technology activities in the workplace across both a wide range of ICT areas, including technical support, network administration, web technologies, software applications and digital media technologies as well as utilising ICT skills in other areas of a business such as administration, customer service or support roles. ICT30120 Certificate III in Information Technology is a foundation pathway course in the ICT field, providing a bridge to future higher level training options or entry-level skills to assist individuals looking to upskill and return to the workforce.

Students who enrol in a:

  • government subsidised place pay subsidised tuition fees (the government contributes the rest), and may be required to pay a Student Services and Amenities Fee along with any material fees
  • full fee-paying place pay the full fee tuition rate (which includes Student Services and Amenities Fee and any material fees).
