This unit (VU22450) describes the skills and knowledge to support learners to develop the basic skills and confidence to perform simple and familiar numeracy tasks involving the interpretation of simple everyday maps or street directories. It includes giving and following simple and familiar directions which are part of the learners' normal routines to do with directions and locations in familiar contexts, such as near their homes, shopping centres, in workplace buildings or education institutions. Learners will communicate these mathematical ideas using mainly spoken responses with some written responses. Learners at this level may request support and begin to develop their own support resources.
