Gain the qualification needed to serve alcohol under Victorian state laws with the Responsible Service of Alcohol SITSS00071 short course at Victoria University Polytechnic.
This one-day course provides a set of skills for you to sell, serve or supply alcohol responsibly.
If you work in hospitality and events, or any other area where you sell, promote, deliver or supply alcohol to customers, this course is for you. It also suitable for licensees who are ultimately responsible for managing the responsible service of alcohol.
Learning at our Footscray Nicholson Campus, you will develop skills in the following areas:
- legal requirements relating to the sale and service of alcohol
- excessive consumption of alcohol and duty of care
- monitoring of patron intoxication levels and management of difficult customers
- alcohol consumption and Australian standard drink facts.

Credit towards SIT Tourism, Travel & Hospitality Training Package
Once you have successfully completed this course, you will have credit towards qualifications in tourism, travel, hospitality and holiday parks and resorts in the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package.

Learning outcomes
A set of skills to equip an individual to sell, serve or supply alcohol responsibly. Achievement of this unit provides credit towards qualifications in tourism, travel, hospitality and holiday parks and resorts in the SIT Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Training Package.
This skill set is for personnel involved in the sale, service, promotional service, delivery and supply of alcohol to customers. It also applies to the licensee who is ultimately responsible for managing the responsible service of alcohol.
Certification requirements apply in Victoria to individuals involved in the sale, service, promotional service, delivery and supply of alcohol. Certification in some States relies on the achievement of SITHFAB021 Provide responsible service of alcohol. Responsible service of alcohol (RSA) legislative and knowledge requirements differ across borders. Those developing training to support the RSA unit must consult the relevant state or territory liquor licensing authority to determine any accreditation arrangements for courses, trainers and assessors.
