Course structure
To be awarded HLT33021 Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance, 12 units must be completed consisting of:
- 7 core units
- 5 elective units, consisting of:
- at least 4 electives listed in the qualification
- up to 1 unit from any endorsed Training Package or accredited course – this unit must be relevant to the work outcome.
VET Delivered to Secondary Schools (VDSS):
VU offers the VET Delivered to Secondary Schools (VDSS) Program Structure as a partial completion. Students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for passed units.
To meet with the VCE Units 3 and 4 unscored rules and additional electives have been included beyond the training package requirements to ensure minimum hours are met.

Learning outcomes
This qualification reflects the role of a new worker wanting to become an Allied Health Assistant and gain entry to the aged care, disability and other health sectors. They may provide assistance, under the delegation and supervision of Allied Health Professionals (AHP).
Supervision may be direct, indirect or remote, according to the individual Allied Health Assistant's scope of practice and experience.

- government subsidised place pay subsidised tuition fees (the government contributes the rest), and may be required to pay a Student Services and Amenities Fee along with any material fees
- full fee-paying place pay the full fee tuition rate (which includes Student Services and Amenities Fee and any material fees).

Entry requirements
VDSS applicants must complete to determine suitability:
- Pre-training Review (PTR).
The suitability, literacy and numeracy levels of applicants will be assessed through consultation with the relevant secondary school.
Practical Placement:
For employment and practical placement purposes, all applicants require:
- a current and satisfactory Police Record Check
- a current and valid Working with Children Check
- a Health Status check (evidence of immunisation)
