Victoria University Community Sports Stadium is a four-court, indoor sports and recreation stadium. Located at the Western Bulldogs Football Club, VU Whitten Oval, the facility includes:

  • courts lined for basketball, netball, futsal, volleyball and badminton
  • competition grade timber flooring and lighting
  • change rooms and toilets
  • court side seating
  • onsite parking
  • proximity to West Footscray train station.

Community competitions & programs

The VU Community Sports Stadium is a proud supporter of our community clubs, programs and associations. It is host venue to various junior competitions and adult social sport.

Competition entry is $2.20 per person for all competitiors and spectators 10 years and older.

CitySide Sports offers social netball competitions every Monday and Tuesday evenings, and a Thursday morning ladies' competition with playgroup available.

Westgate Basketball Association is an affiliated basketball association with Basketball Victoria and is home of basketball in the inner-west of Melbourne, offering competitions and programs for all skills and abilities.

Ready Steady Go Kids offers toddler and preschool sports programs in a structured, safe, inclusive and non-competitive environment.

Footscray Hawks Basketball Club competes in a Saturday competition run by Westgate Basketball Association. New players are welcome in age groups U10 to U21s.

Kensington Colts Basketball Club competes in a Saturday competition run by Westgate Basketball Association. New players are welcome in age groups U10 to U18s.

Westside Suns Basketball Club competes in a Saturday competition run by Westgate Basketball Association. New players are welcome in U10s to U21s.

Rise Netball Club enters teams into the Parkville Netball Association, with games held at the State Netball Hockey Centre and Riverside Netball Courts. Age groups include U11s through U15s.

The VU Vultures Netball Club is based at the Victoria University Community Sports Stadium at VU Whitten Oval in Footscray. Teams compete in the Parkville Netball Association Competition at the State Netball Centre and Premier League Open - Tuesday nights.

The club trains on Sundays from 3-6pm at the Victoria University Community Sports Stadium.

Williamstown Cannons Basketball Club provides programs for children aged 6 to 17 years, and enters teams into a Saturday competition with the Westgate Basketball Association.

Facility hire & casual use

The VU Community Sports Stadium is available for hire and ideal for:

  • sports clinics
  • competitions
  • school programs - physical education classes, inter-school competitions
  • club training
  • community programs.

We suggest contacting us via email to request a booking. Providing the following information will assist in facilitating your request:

  • booking type (e.g. sport specific, or court space only)
  • number of courts required
  • start and end time, inclusive of setup & pack down
  • date range
  • number of participants.

Casual shooting is available depending on bookings. We recommend calling ahead to determine court availability.

Monday to Friday: 9am–11pm

Saturday: 8am–6.30pm

Sunday: 8am–10pm
