The cyber security major builds on the first-year foundational units to prepare students as security professionals with in-depth knowledge and advanced IT skills in cyber security. The focus of this major is to scaffold knowledge around cyber security about, but not limited to, the introduction of Cyber Security Fundamentals, Cyber Security Architecture, Cyber Security Technologies (i.e., digital signature, firewalls, intrusion detection and data encryption), Cloud Security, Enterprise Security, Cybersecurity operations, Data privacy, Cyber Physical Systems Security, Cyber Security Regulation, Policies and Laws. This major will contribute to the development of SFIA skills, specifically in these areas and provide students with insights into the latest developments in this field. This major provides both technical depth as well as breadth through exploration of the topics and possible disruptions in these areas through the core units and the application of these skills and knowledge through industry-relevant capstone projects. This major will better prepare Bachelor of IT graduates for the high demand professions such as cyber security specialists, cyber security consultants, network security engineers, and enterprise security engineers.
