This unit (SSM2003) is designed to develop the student's awareness and appreciation of the ethical dimensions of sport management and active recreation. The unit will facilitate the development of the student's ability to analyse critically various issues, policies, practices and relationships within sport and active recreation. It will also explore individual preferences and values and how they influence ethical decision making. Special attention will be paid to the development of ethical reasoning and its practical application to topics such as: anti-doping, match fixing, diversity and anti-discrimination (e.g. gender and sexuality, race, ethnicity and religion, ability and disability); and wellbeing (e.g. injuries, child safeguarding).
