This unit (SCL1001) focuses on the practice of personal training. Students will gain skills associated with sound practices (i.e. identify client fitness requirements including pre-exercise health screening, exercise programming, exercise instruction and program and client evaluation) relevant to operating as a fitness professional. These skills will provide a basis for training design that can later be applied specific to training programs suitable to be used in a range of environments. Students will demonstrate their knowledge and skills through the delivery and instruction of exercise. Information relevant to professionals in the industry such as accreditation and registration, professional development, professional associations and employment options will also be explored.
