In this unit students will apply, integrate and further develop their theoretical knowledge by exploring person-centred care of patients and examining acute and chronic disorders. Specific areas of focus will include pharmacology and pathophysiology of haematological, renal, gastrointestinal and infectious and communicable conditions. Students will also have the opportunity to expand their knowledge of cardiology. Evidence-based assessment and management of these patients will be explored within the paramedic context. Students will apply their knowledge as professionally and culturally safe clinicians underpinned by the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards.
