The aim of this unit is to introduce students to the underlying principles that make up the employment contract. These principles are drawn from two sources. Whilst the employment contract is a creature of the common law, it is increasingly affected by legislative intervention. Thus, both the common law approach to the control of the employment contract as well as legislative modification will be considered.
