This unit (AET6005) investigates the technical and interactive design elements of learning design, within the context of digital learning platform systems and technologies. You will have the opportunity to integrate learning and teaching theories, frameworks, and methodologies that are deployed within a digital learning platform such as gamification, communication and automated responses, academic integrity, and learning analytics. You will gain hands-on experience with responding to design challenges (storyboarding for example); using a variety of both proprietory and open source authoring tools to create and edit interactive content (H5P and/or tools of your interest for example); establishing communication and online collaboration; providing solutions using digital learning platforms to assess learners; space personalisation and enhancing the user experience; for both synchronous and asynchronous digital learning environments. The industry practice of design thinking and agile design methodologies will underpin your explorations. On completion of this unit, you will demonstrate a contemporary work-ready portfolio.

  2. Critique and justify online educational instruction artefacts for a specific educational context;
  3. Design digital learning solutions informed by contemporary learning design practices; and
  4. Analyse and interpret data to optimise the learning experience of learners in digital learning environments.
