This unit (SCL6001) addresses pathophysiologies in metabolism, including kidney disease, and cancers. The learning for this unit of study focuses on exercise assessments and interventions for metabolic conditions and cancers; these being core knowledge and skills categories required for graduates seeking professional accreditation with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). It will include exercise testing and prescription for a range of metabolic conditions, including (but not limited to) obesity, diabetes & gestational diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome, various stages of kidney diseases, and a number of cancers.
