This unit (NNC7001) introduces the analysis and design of advanced steel-concrete composite structures and reinforced concrete structures. Advanced topics in composite structures cover composite beams under positive and negative moments, longitudinal shear transfer, deflections of composite beams, composite connections, and nonlinear analysis of composite columns. Advanced topics in reinforced concrete structures include strut-and-tie modelling, deep beams, corbels, foundation design, and retaining walls.
