The Fundamentals of Cyber Security unit covers the importance of cybersecurity, the most common risks, and how to mitigate them. Students in this unit will learn about cyber security and how it is related to the industry growth. This unit (NIT5081) introduces the basic cyber security concepts and the common architectures used as industry standards. Students will have an opportunity to study different types of malware and the potential attack vectors, including viruses, trojans and ransomware; and use network and system tools to manage security issues and maintain a safe working environment. Students will be introduced to contemporary information technologies related to network security, such as cryptography and block chain, to secure interactions.
