This unit (NBD1101) is based on a series of problems designed to introduce students to the architectural design process and detailing. The problems will therefore emphasise OHS regulations, organisational policies and procedures (including quality assurance requirements), interpretation of the project brief, interpretation commonly used in industry documentation, effective plan and specification reading and analysis and generating and evaluating alternatives against a range of technical criteria. The unit introduces students to professional drawing practice and using computer-aided design software as relevant to built environment professionals (AutoCAD and Revit). The unit also explores fundamental mathematics as applicable in the built environment and interpretation commonly used in industry documentation.
