This unit (LLW4007) introduces students to evidence law and rules which govern the collection and use of information / evidence which may legitimately be put before courts and other tribunals in both criminal cases, or in civil disputes. Students will also analyse the rationale for the rules that comprise the law of evidence and the values they represent, by reference to the Victorian Evidence Act 2008, which provides a law of evidence that is uniform with the law of the territories, the Commonwealth, NSW and Tasmania. On completion of this unit students will be equipped with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of, and competence in, the law of evidence.
