Social crime prevention seeks to reduce the likelihood that an individual will include crime as part of their repertoire of behaviours through implementing evidence-based interventions at all stages of life and in the places where people learn, live, work and play. This unit (LCR6005) explores recent innovations in social prevention, drawing from such diverse fields as social psychology, behavioural economics, developmental prevention and public health. Topics covered may include family violence and violence against women, digital crime, crime in the West, terrorism, intergenerational crime, and the role of schools, community, media and sport. Students will also engage in hands on project design and evaluation.
