This Forensic Science unit of study encourages students to think critically about scientific issues in a range of science disciplines. Through case studies and hands-on experience students will explore a range of topics including, forensic science, tools and techniques used to study DNA, our immune system and vaccines. Students will perform laboratory procedures including conducting experiments, collecting and recording data and how to write laboratory reports. As an introduction to engaging with scientific thinking, students will use appropriate technology, engage with the language used in Science and be exposed to a range of investigative methods. This unit (JYU0011) of study will provide a foundation in the essential knowledge and understanding of theoretical and practical science skills to facilitate study in higher education.
