This unit (HMB4001) builds on the content of the Professional Nurse or Midwife unit and subsequent learning in midwifery and nursing units to further develop students as health professionals with a focus on transitioning from a student, to a graduate Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife role. The unit addresses professional issues in applying for graduate positions and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Contemporary professional issues will be extended to exploring alternate practice settings and models of care for Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives. Students will also identify characteristics of excellent leadership within clinical leadership, preceptorship and mentorship and contextualise to midwifery and nursing practice. Students will begin to organise their professional portfolio in preparation for course completion.
