The unit supports Youth Work, Community Development and Criminal Justice students to plan for and succeed in their careers. Students will be provided with the necessary skills, knowledge and practical experiences required to successfully transition from education to employment. The unit focuses specifically on career planning with an emphasis on 'employability' in the context of the 21st century world of work. Career planning is supported with the development of skills in job search, applications, interviews, networking and transitioning into the professional workplace. Through the development of an individual framework of practice, students will have the opportunity to reflect on their academic and personal lives to recognise their values, interests and abilities that both support and challenge their transition to employment, as well as identifying strategies they can implement to ensure they have the competencies they need to fulfil their life and work goals.
