The ways in which audiences engage with narratives is changing due to developments in media distribution and technological convergence. Media narratives are interwoven across platforms and devices and are experienced in a combination of real and virtual environments. In turn, target audiences and fans actively participate in, share, create, curate and influence these narratives. In this unit, students will investigate transmedia production, narratives, and 'story worlds' and analyse the use, impact and potentials of participatory culture and user engagement.
