The aims of this unit are: to provide students with the requisite knowledge to comprehend and critically appraise research frameworks and qualitative and quantitative research studies relevant to the field of clinical or community psychology (critical research literacy); to introduce students to some of the current controversies in the fields of clinical or community research, and the role that research design and data analysis play in the research disputes; to assist students in designing and conducting an independent research project using a suitable approach and method. This unit (APC6089) will equip students with the requisite skills to be critical consumers of clinical or community psychology research, as well as develop and refine the skills necessary to conduct research in an ethically and methodologically sound way.
