This unit (ACO1012) introduces further technical, interpretive and self-evaluation skills in music practice. Students are assisted in evaluating their technical, interpretative and improvisation skills. Students are instructed in a range of underpinning knowledge in general musicianship. Students are guided in setting and maintaining goals, strategies, exercises and practice routines. A program of musical works is selected to present technical, improvisational and interpretive challenges. Students continue to explore the concept of functional music theory. Students expand their knowledge in the safe operation of live music sound reinforcement and key elements of essential music software. Students explore the academic skills required for understanding the nature of musicology.
