Victoria University has been delivering joint education programs with Liaoning University for more than 20 years. This partnership was established in 1999 through their Australia-Asia Business College (AABC).

Liaoning University, situated in the city of Shenyang in China’s north-east, is a leader in developing unique transnational education models and is one of China's prestigious Project 211 universities. Liaoning University also is a Chinese Ministry of Education Double First Class Discipline University, with Double First Class status in certain disciplines.

Our longstanding and valued partnership with Liaoning University has produced thousands of VU business graduates, with many studying part of their degree in Australia through our pathway opportunities.

Pathway opportunities

Students can study specialised VU English and business courses in Shenyang, or study part of their VU bachelor degree in Melbourne.

Students wanting to complete part of their VU degree in Melbourne can choose to study for as short as six months or as long as two years in Melbourne.

Students who choose to complete their bachelor degree in Melbourne can select from any one of 11 Bachelor of Business majors, and gain valuable international experience.

Students who continue to study a VU business degree with Liaoning University can major in accounting, banking and finance or international trade.

Liaoning University credit transfers

Established in 1999, The Asia Australia Business College (AABC) is jointly run by Liaoning University (LU) and Victoria University (VU).

You can commence a Victoria University Diploma of Business (Enterprise) taught at AABC, before entering a Bachelor of Business courses with one year of credit (also known as advanced standing). You can then complete the remaining two years of the bachelor degree at either Victoria University in Melbourne or AABC/LU in China.

In Melbourne, you can select one of the Bachelor of Business majors (but must be according to the policy of LU at the same time); at AABC, three majors are offered.

To transfer into one of Bachelor of Business courses, students must successfully complete the VU Diploma of Business (Enterprise). The students will receive eight (8) credits towards the VU Bachelor of Business.

Students with up to two failed units in VU Diploma of Business (Enterprise) may progress to the degree and must successfully complete these units prior to graduating from VU Bachelor of Business.

You could meet Victoria University's English language entry requirements by one of these methods:

  • Passing the DELA English language test
  • IELTS (Academic): 6.0 overall, no band less than 6.0
  • TOEFL (Internet): 80 overall, no section less than 20
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): 50 – 57 overall score, no section less than 50
  • Cambridge English – Advanced (CAE): Total score of 52
  • Successful completion of the University Preparation Program (UPP) (for students requiring additional English language support).

If you do not meet any of these English language entry requirements you can complete an ELICOS course before enrolling in the Bachelor of Business.
