Since 2003, Henan University (HNU) and Victoria University (VU) have collaborated to offer courses in business and information technology.

VU-HNU transnational education (TNE) programs provide students with opportunities to complete both VU and HNU degrees in China, or study part of their VU degree in Australia. The VU-HNU TNE programs are hosted by the International Education College (IEC) at Henan University, Kaifeng City, China.

Henan University is a Chinese Ministry of Education Double First Class Discipline University, with Double First Class status in certain disciplines. International education in HNU is renowned for its long history. In 1912, the Preparatory School for Further Study in Europe and America, the predecessor of HNU, was founded and became one of the three major schools to prepare students for overseas study in China.

Henan University credit transfers

To transfer into VU's Bachelor of Business students must successfully complete the VU Diploma of Business (Enterprise). The students will receive eight (8) credits towards the VU Bachelor of Business.

Students with up to two failed units in VU's Diploma of Business (Enterprise) may progress to the degree and must successfully complete these units prior to graduating from VU Bachelor of Business.

To transfer into VU’s Bachelor of Information Technology, students must successfully complete the VU Diploma of Information Technology. The students will receive eight (8) credits towards the VU Bachelor of Information Technology.

Students with up to two failed units in VU Diploma of Information Technology may progress to the degree and must successfully complete these units prior to graduating from VU Bachelor of Information Technology.

For entry into a Bachelor of Business course or the Bachelor of Information Technology we accept one of these test results:

  • IELTS (Academic): 6.0 overall, no band less than 6.0
  • TOEFL (Internet): 80 overall, no section less than 20
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE): 50 – 57 overall score, no section less than 50
  • Cambridge English – Advanced (CAE): Total score of 52
  • Successful completion of the University Preparation Program (UPP) (for students requiring additional English language support)

If you do not meet any of these English language entry requirements you can complete an ELICOS course before enrolling in a bachelor course.

Pathway opportunities

Students can study specialised VU English and business or information technology courses in Henan, or study part of their VU bachelor degree in Melbourne.

Students wanting to complete part of their VU bachelor degree in Melbourne can choose to study for as short as six months or as long as two years in Melbourne, to gain valuable international experience.
