Assessment
Assessment tasks will be designed to reinforce and extend knowledge and skill competence within set and controlled parameters in accordance with each unit's learning outcomes and performance criteria requirements, including the setting of work based practical application tasks designed to provide evidence of competence outcomes, within periodic and scheduled timelines.
Students will be expected to demonstrate the following required skills:
* A person who demonstrates competency in this unit must read and interpret plans and specifications for one building or construction project.
In doing this, the person must meet the requirements of the performance criteria.
Students will also be expected to demonstrate the following knowledge:
* features and functions of different types of drawings, including:
construction plans; cross-sectional plans; dimensions and notes; illustrations; longitudinal plans; project specifications; site plans; structural detail and specification providing illustrations and dimensions
legends, symbols and abbreviations used on construction plans and drawings
* processes for:
-checking amendments to plans and specifications
-orientating site plans to sites
-locating site locations from site plans
* key features of site plans, including:
-characteristics; compatibility; construction; location; pattern dimension; quantities; sizes
* environmental requirements, including:
-clean-up management
-waste management
* key features of specifications, including:
-detail relating to materials and quality of work, quality assurance, nominated subcontractors, and provision of site access/facilities
* details relating to performance, including:
-characteristics; material types; standards of work; tolerances; treatments and finishes.
