Overview

The Solar Grid Connect - Install TNABN short course is designed for electricians who want to gain skills in installing grid-connected PV systems.

This course allows successful students to gain provisional accreditation with the Clean Energy Council, which may lead to full accreditation in Grid Connect Install.

You will develop technical skills and knowledge that will ensure you are ready for work, including:

  • preparing to work on photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
  • solving problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
  • completing work and documenting problem solving activities
  • preparing to install photovoltaic power systems
  • installing photovoltaic power systems
  • completing and reporting on installation activities.

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency(s) within TNABN Solar Grid Connect - Install, a student must successfully complete the following unit(s).

The Solar Grid Connect - Install course is designed for electricians and electrical engineers who want to gain skills in installing grid-connected PV systems. This course allows successful students to gain provisional accreditation with the Clean Energy Council, which may lead to full accreditation in Grid Connect Install.

You will develop technical skills and knowledge that will ensure you are ready for work, including:
- preparing to work on photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
- solving problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems>
- completing work and documenting problem-solving activities
- preparing to install photovoltaic power systems
- installing photovoltaic power systems
- completing and reporting on installation activities.

The program is delivered over three (3) consecutive days (8-hour days) face-to-face sessions, facilitator-led delivery and will involve utilising an online platform. It is expected participants have basic IT skills to navigate electronic resources.

Note: the following units have pre-requisite requirements in this course
UEERE0080 Install photovoltaic power conversion equipment to grid
Pre-requisites:
- UEEEL0012 Install low voltage wiring, appliances, switchgear and associated accessories; and
- UEERE0054 Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems (delivered as part of this course)

UEERE0081 - Install photovoltaic systems to power conversion equipment
Pre-requisites:
- UEEEL0012 Install low voltage wiring, appliances, switchgear and associated accessories; and
- UEERE0054 Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems (delivered as part of this course): or
- UEERE0055 Conduct site survey for off-grid photovoltaic/genset systems

Admission & pathways

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course. Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

As part of the application process, applicants must:
- complete a Pre-training Review (PTR) to determine suitability for admission.
- hold an Unrestricted Electrician's Licence or equivalent issued in an Australian State or Territory (evidence is required). This admission requirement satisfies the unit prerequisite requirements and the Clean Energy Council accreditation requirements.
- provide evidence of successful completion of unit UEEEL0012.
Please note, unit UEERE0054 is delivered as part of this course and does not form part of the admission requirements. Applicants who have passed this unit prior to course commencement may be assessed for credit towards this unit.

The pre-requisite unit requirements are as follows:
UEERE0080 Install photovoltaic power conversion equipment to grid
- UEEEL0012 Install low voltage wiring, appliances, switchgear and associated accessories; and
- UEERE0054 Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems.
UEERE0081 - Install photovoltaic systems to power conversion equipment
- UEEEL0012 Install low voltage wiring, appliances, switchgear and associated accessories: and
- UEERE0054 Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems; or
- UEERE0055 Conduct site survey for off-grid photovoltaic/genset systems.
