Learning outcomes
This course is suitable for people who have a qualification or industry experience in the accounting or finance sector and are looking to gain skills in tax law. You will develop the knowledge and skills to prepare tax documentation for individuals and legal entities. This course will provide you with the following knowledge and skills:
- Gather client income data and verify client, organisational and legislative requirements;
- Identify, record and present the client's non-complex income tax documentation;
- Manage lodgement of client's non-complex income tax documentation;
- Identify taxation requirements for complex lodgements and returns;
- Gather and analyse data relevant to the client's tax position;
- Prepare and present tax documentation, and;
- Lodge tax documentation.
This skill set from the FNS Financial Services Training Package together, with the appropriate assessment methods as set by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB), meets the requirements for a course in tax law for tax agents that is approved by the TPB. Persons seeking tax agent registration should check with the TPB for details of other current registration requirements, including those relating to experience, fitness and propriety.
