This unit (LML6001) is designed to equip participants with the basic legal skills needed to begin to work in migration law, such as legal reasoning and statutory interpretation. Students will gain an understanding of the Australian legal system and administrative law and the relevance of case law to migration practice Students will develop the research capacity to find appropriate legal materials, they will learn to navigate and competently use various legal databases such as LEGEND.com, Austlii and Comlaw. During this subject and continuing throughout the course, students will work to develop the writing and communication skills needed for postgraduate academic law and future practice in this field of law.
