This unit (HMG7950) provides students with the skills to consume and appraise research to inform evidence-based practice and to undertake applied research. Students will learn to identify and apply relevant professional and/or scholarly conventions which govern research – particularly in a public health context. They will be engaged in reviewing and appraising a variety of research methods including: undertaking a literature review; gathering and analysing datal; designing a research proposal; appraising the quality of research and assessing its generalisability to a range of public health contexts; practising evidence-informed decision making and knowledge translation; and disseminating research findings to a variety of audiences.
