Media professionals need to be experts in producing digital forms of the 'old' recorded arts such as video, sound and text, as well as experts in putting these old forms together into new digital forms. This unit (ACM1006) examines some of the technological developments that make possible contemporary forms of artistic expression and communication. It examines some of the conventions of visual language, techniques for shooting and editing digital video, and the operation of sound with digital video. The unit includes a special focus on sound production and editing. Industry professionals will be invited to showcase their work and discuss contemporary issues in digital video and sound production.
