Overview

The Solar Grid Connect - Design TNABM short course is designed for electricians and electrical engineers who want to gain skills in designing grid-connected PV systems.

This course provides licensed electricians with the skills to understand design of grid connected photovoltaic power supply systems and their installation. It allows successful students to gain provisional accreditation with the Clean Energy Council, which may lead to full accreditation in Grid Connect Design.

You will develop technical skills and knowledge that will ensure you are ready for work, including:

  • preparing to work on photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
  • solving problems in photovoltaic energy apparatus and systems
  • completing work and documenting problem solving activities
  • preparing to design grid connected power supply systems
  • developing grid connected power supply systems design, and
  • obtaining approval for grid connected power supply systems design.

Course contents

In order to be issued a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency(s) within TNABM Solar Grid Connect - Design, a student must successfully complete the core units.

The program is delivered over a two (2) days (8 hours per day) face-to-face session, facilitator led delivery and will involve utilising an online platform. It is expected participants have basic IT skills to navigate electronic resources.

Note: the following unit has pre-requisite requirements in this course
UEERE0061 Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems
Pre-requisites:
- UEERE0054 Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems (delivered as part of this course); and
- UEEEL0039 Design, install and verify compliance and functionality of general electrical installations; or
- UEERE0051 Apply electrical principles to renewable energy design.

Admission & pathways

Meeting the minimum admission requirements does not guarantee you entry into this course. Some courses receive more applications than the number of places available. In this situation we will also assess your education, work and other relevant experience.

Find out more about how to apply for our courses, and our commitment to admissions transparency.

As part of the application process, applicants must:
- complete a Pre-training Review (PTR) to determine suitability for admission.
- hold an Unrestricted Electrician's Licence or equivalent issued in an Australian State or Territory (evidence is required)
- provide evidence of successful completion of the required pre-requisite unit either UEEEL0039 or UEERE0051.
Please note, unit UEERE0054 is delivered as part of this course and does not form part of the admission requirements. Applicants who have passed this unit prior to course commencement may be assessed for credit towards this unit.

The pre-requisite unit requirements are as follows:
UEERE0061 Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems
- UEERE0054 Conduct site survey for grid-connected photovoltaic and battery storage systems (unit is delivered as part of this course); and
- UEEEL0039 Design, install and verify compliance and functionality of general electrical installations; or
- UEERE0051 Apply electrical principles to renewable energy design.
