Overview

Become an expert in Excel by taking an advanced professional-development course at Victoria University Polytechnic.

If you have an established understanding of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and would like to become even more efficient in its many functions, then this short course is for you.

Our one-day workshop will help you to excel in your current position, or aim for a promotion into a role managing complex data. Delivered online, the course is convenient and effective, with video tutorials, online exercises and group discussions.

You will learn to plan and create complex spreadsheets, applying advanced formulas and macros to create time-saving data-management processes and useful charts and tables.

Learning outcomes

This workshop will provide participants with an understanding of Microsoft Excel at an advanced level to improve their Microsoft Excel skills. It is anticipated that the participants will be existing workers with range of experiences in diverse workplace contexts to better manage their current role responsibilities or to expand on their Microsoft Excel skill set to access employment or promotion.

The program is delivered over a one (1) day workshop via an online platform, facilitator led delivery will provide an overview of platform being utilised and expectations of participation whilst ensuring any participant technology issues are addressed. This course will be facilitated via webinar or zoom scheduled times, including short videos, and electronic resources provided to participants and involves group discussions to support the key principles related to managing workplace relationships.

At completion of the course participants will be able to:

• Demonstrate and discuss workstation ergonomics while working with Excel

• Use Microsoft Excel Advanced features

• Plan and create Advanced / Complex spreadsheets

• Enter, check and amend data in Excel (Review the use of Excel Ribbon & tasks within each section)

• Use and apply complex formulas in Excel (Test and check their function)

• Discuss IF Formula, V-Look up & H-Look up and Nested IF statements

• Discuss use of MACRO in Excel

• Move / & Link Excel spreadsheets

• Use Pivot Tables & Charts.

Participants will need access to a computer with an operational version of Microsoft Excel installed on their computer. The program assumes participants will have intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and knowledge. Access to and operate the online learning software to navigate a webpage and find information, attend a webinar using zoom or webex for online delivery. If the course is being delivered face-to-face onsite, computer access is not required.
