Overview

Gain the technical skills to design and maintain electrical equipment and systems, with the Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology – Electrical UEE62122 from Victoria University.

Learning in high-tech facilities, you'll gain practical skillls in configuring, testing, and fault finding in complex electrical circuits and systems. You'll also develop expertise in creating specifications for electrical engineering projects, from minor requirements to large processing plants.

By the end of the course you will have the skills to plan and manage large electrical projects, including:

  • designing and briefing for electrical systems and installations

  • writing up engineering specifications

Course structure

To be awarded the UEE62122 Advance Diploma of Engineering Technology - Electrical, a student must successfully complete a total of 2160 weighting points comprising of:
* 1200 core weighting points listed below; plus
* 960 general elective weighting points from the general elective units listed below, of which- between 0 and 440 weighting points can be taken from Group A;

- between 0 and 300 weighting points can be taken from Group B;

- between 0 and 300 weighting points can be taken from Group C;

- between 0 and 300 weighting points can be taken from Group D; and

- between 200 and 960 weighting points can be taken from Group E (or all 960 elective weighting points can be taken from Group E).

- Up to 360 weighting points of the general elective units Group A, may be selected, with appropriate contextualisation, from any relevant nationally endorsed Training Package or accredited course, provided selected units contribute to the vocational outcome of the qualification. Previously assigned weighting points are listed in the UEE Electrotechnology Training Package Companion Volume Implementation Guide (CVIG), if not listed weighting points will be 10 points unless directed by the Electrotechnology Industry Reference Committee (IRC).

VU Polytechnic delivers the electives listed in the ‘course structure and units’ below. These electives have been selected based on industry needs, graduate pathways and/or student and teacher feedback. Alternative suitable electives are only available via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT).

- Successful completion of a Certificate III or above qualification in a related Engineering or Electrical pathway.
Applicants with work and life experience
Applicants must apply and complete:
- Pre-training Review (PTR)
- Literacy and numeracy assessment.
- A minimum of 6 months of work experience in Engineering, trades or related disciplines (provide resume or letter from employment with position description, role, responsibilities and duration).
