MyWorkspace is a cloud-based hosting service that allows specialised software applications to be virtualised, offering greater flexibility and continuity of learning, teaching and working.
MyWorkspace allows course related software applications that may currently only be available on-campus via VU's computer labs or networks to be made available anywhere.
Access the MyWorkspace Portal at the URL - myworkspace.vu.edu.au
The virtualised applications that you can access in MyWorkspace is based on your enrolled course and individual account. If you do not have access to MyWorkspace or an application that you need is not visible in your MyWorkspace Portal, check with your teacher or lecturer.
If you are using MyWorkspace for the first time, we recommend you first install the VMware Horizon Client and then use your Staff or Student account to login to the MyWorkspace Portal.

Note: Not all applications are compatible with MyWorkspace.
A virtual application can only be used on one device at a time.
If you have used more than one device to login to your MyWorkspace Portal, the latest device that you login with will become the active MyWorkspace session.
Your VU network drive in MyWorkspace is W: drive. You can use this W: drive to download and access files from any computer, anywhere with internet while using a virtual application.
Use the Z: drive to save files directly to your local computer while connected to the VMWare Horizon Client.
Do not save files to C: Drive while connected to the VMWare Horizon Client.
Upload files from your W: Drive to VU Collaborate using the Google Chrome Virtual Application. Other web browsers on your computer do not have access to W: Drive.
To upload files to VU Collaborate from your computer using the Google Chrome Virtual Application, you will need to choose the Z: Drive (not C: drive) to access the files from your local computer.
Alternatively, if your files are located on your computer or USB you can use a normal web browser on your computer to upload your files to VU Collaborate.
Printing from MyWorkspace works the same as printing via VU Global.
Your print jobs will be sent to VU Global print queue and can be printed from a printer on campus.
Close and relaunch MyWorkspace if a virtual application does not appear on your desktop or the application becomes idle.
VMWare Horizon Client provides students and academics with remote access to the University network and applications without the need for a VPN connection. You can download the Horizon Virtual Client onto your personal PC or Mac.

Before you start, save and close any open documents and applications on your computer.
If the download window does not appear, go to your Downloads folder in File Explorer and right click the .exe file for VMware Horizon Client. Choose Run as Administrator and follow the login prompts.

Only you have access to your files on your virtual desktop. A virtual desktop can only be assigned to one user at a time. When the user no longer requires their virtual desktop, the virtual desktop is rebuilt before being assigned to someone else.
Virtual desktops do however have the same global security policies in place as our standard laptops for both student and staff profiles. When browsing on a virtual machine the browser history will be securely monitored the same as your staff laptop or on-campus student machines would be.
Virtual desktop screens can be shared just as normal in Zoom, select the virtual desktop screen to share with other video participants.
