Each College at VU has Course and Unit Advisors (CUAs) to help our students. They are the first point of contact if you need administrative assistance and advice relating to your course at VU.

CUAs have a broad range of knowledge and expertise on the coursework programs within their College. They can provide help and guidance with most practical course-related matters.

CUA drop-in sessions at VUHQ

Throughout the year, Course and Unit Advisors (CUAs) will be at VUHQ student service centres to perform some services, such as form approvals, that do not require an appointment. We encourage you to visit your CUA during their dedicated drop-in times at VUHQ for the following one-to-one services.

  • Timetable issue resolution – For help solving timetable clashes or class allocation issues that you've been unable to put right using MyTimetable.
  • Unit selection/amendment – To receive help choosing the right units to enrol into to meet the requirements of your course.
  • Domestic and International form assessment – For advice on your entitlement to apply for Waiver of Unit Rules Forms, Short Assignment Extensions, Reduced Study Load Applications, CoE Extensions and Cross-Institutional Study Applications.
  • Course transfer advice – For specific advice on transferring to other courses at VU, including how the units you have already successfully completed will apply towards a new course.
  • Advanced Standing application assistance – If you are having difficulty completing the advanced standing application and need help understanding how your previously completed units will apply towards VU credit.
  • Progression enquiries – If you are in the final year of your course, your CUA can confirm that you are enrolled in the correct units to graduate.
  • Results queries – If you have been unsuccessful in completing a unit and require assistance understanding how this will affect your progression, or if you are seeking to dispute a grade.

Book an appointment with a CUA

Why make an appointment?

Some services, like teach out course mapping, take time and require more in-depth support from your CUA.

You can make an appointment to speak one-to-one with a CUA in your college if you need one of the following services:

  • Detailed course advice – If you are unable to follow the standard delivery plan for your course due to receiving Advanced Standing credits, changes in your course structure or unsuccessful completion of units.
  • Teach-out course mapping – If you are currently studying a course in teach-out mode and require assistance with selecting units for enrolment.
  • Victoria Abroad Overseas Study Plans – If you are a student undertaking an exchange program overseas and are seeking approval for your completed Overseas Study Plan.

Asa profile photo.

Hi, I’m Asa.

While I can provide a range of academic administration support and course-specific advice in regards all business and law courses, I specialise in providing assistance for our undergraduate business courses.

I have completed my Master of Science at Victoria University as an international student and have been working at Victoria University for over eight years. I began working in VUHQ before moving into my current role as Course and Unit Advisor.

Opportunity to meet students from all walks of life and hearing their stories, goals, aspirations and support them to achieve their academic goals is what I love most about my role. I really look forward to meeting you to support you and see you succeed.

In my spare time, I love to travel with my family and try out amazing cuisines and learn about different cultures.

Hi, I’m Effie Moustakas.

I can provide a range of academic administration support and course-specific advice in various undergraduate and postgraduate courses from the Information Technology, Science, Built Environment disciplines. I also provide information on the Bachelor of Early Childhood course.

I’ve been working at Victoria University for over five years. I have over 20 years’ experience working in a range of organisations including education, commercial, private and not-for-profit sectors. My background includes marketing and sales.

I love the specialised knowledge that I am able to provide to students as well as the flexibility VU provides. I also enjoy the student face-to-face interaction.

I enjoy spending time with my Chihuahua x Shihtzu and going for long walks with her. I love cooking and entertaining and I have a passion for interior design.

Headshot of Course Unit Adviser, Grace

Hi, I’m Grace Ellis.

I provide a range of academic administration support and course-specific advice, primarily for the Early Childhood and Engineering courses, but also all other programs across the colleges.

I have four years’ worth of experience in the Higher Education sector. I have recently relocated from NSW, where I worked in a similar position. I love getting to know students, solving problems and seeing all your hard work pay off come Graduation.

I love VU because of the level of care and dedication that is displayed. Everyone I have met goes above and beyond to do the best that they can for students and the university as a whole.

I am passionate about providing an excellent all-round service, providing students with a full ‘check-up’. This means that any potential future issues are solved before they can escalate, and you can focus your time and energy on learning and absorbing new information.

In my spare time, I love travelling, eating (everything!), hiking, reading and watching movies snuggled on the couch with my partner and our cats.

Jessie, Course & Unit Adviser

Hi, I’m Jessie.

I am available to provide a range of academic administration support and course-specific advice throughout your time at VU.

I completed my Bachelor of Youth Work at Victoria University back in 2016 and have been working at VU for over six years, in a range of different roles. These have all been based in providing support for both current and future students.

I find it really rewarding to become a part of a student’s university journey and see them achieve their academic goals from start to finish. I’m very fortunate to work with students and staff from culturally diverse backgrounds, and meet new people from all around the world.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my family and friends over wholesome food and I enjoy watching anything comedy-related.

Hi, I’m Mark Falconer.

I provide a range of academic administration support and course-specific advice, primarily for the Bachelor of Education courses but also all other programs across the college.

I joined Victoria University four years ago after working at the University of Melbourne for around 20 years. So I have vast and varied experience across all areas of university administration.

I like the way that VU offers opportunities to both staff and students that other universities don’t offer.

Outside of work, I enjoy travelling to many and varied places, doing a bit of snow skiing or bike riding, or just going out for a nice meal and a glass or two of red.

Hi, I’m Natasha.

I can provide a range of academic administration support and course-specific advice for counselling, psychology and social work courses.

I’ve been working at Victoria University for a number of years in a wide range of roles, but started as a student here myself, so I understand that university life can be tricky to navigate. It’s great to know that there are so many support services available to help VU students on their study journey.

What I love about VU is the multi-cultural vibe and meeting people from different walks of life.

I enjoy trying different types of food and travelling. I am extremely passionate about the beautiful game of soccer, and in my downtime I like to listen to music and watch comedy.

 Petross Renfrey, Course Unit Advisor

Hi, I’m Ross.

I can provide a range of academic administration support and course-specific advice for our Sports Science, Physio and Pathology courses.

I’ve recently re-joined our Student Services team because I enjoy working with students and helping them succeed throughout their university journey. I have been at Victoria University since 2019 with experience across a number of teams and will be able to help you with any questions you have.

In my spare time I love to travel and enjoy finding shops with good food and coffee.

I love working at VU because I believe everyone deserves the opportunity to learn irrespective of your upbringing.

Hi, I’m Sophie Moustakas.

I can provide a range of academic administration support and course-specific advice. My expertise is in postgraduate education courses.

I’ve been working at Victoria University for over 20 years. This has provided me with an abundance of skills and knowledge in both sectors of Higher Education and Polytechnic. Throughout this time, I have worked for various departments including the Short Course Centre as a coordinator and Enrolments Offshore as a Team leader. This has enabled me to provide the best information and support as a Course and Unit Advisor to students regarding all aspects of the students life cycle from enrolment to completion.

What I enjoy most about my role is supporting students and being a part of their VU journey. Seeing students complete their qualification and move forward in their goals and careers is really rewarding.
