Safer Community is a central point of enquiry, response and support for concerning, threatening or inappropriate behaviour. We provide support at all stages of responding to complex and sensitive situations.

Victoria University has a strong commitment to improving prevention and response to sexual assault and harassment. Refer to our resources on sexual assault and harassment for more information.

Seeking help

How can I get help?

You can seek help from Safer Community if you:

  • have safety or wellbeing concerns for yourself or someone else
  • are feeling attacked, harassed, intimidated, bullied or threatened
  • witness or have information about concerning behaviour
  • have been raped, think you have been raped, or have been otherwise assaulted.

You can still seek advice from Safer Community if the concerning behaviour occurs off campus.

For immediate assistance on campus contact VU Security on +61 3 9919 6666.

You can also press the button on one of the security help points around campus to get immediate help from the Security Operations Centre.

Several help points exist across the Footscray Park and St Albans campuses, and more are being installed across the Werribee, Sunshine and Footscray Nicholson campuses.

WestCASA at VU

WestCASA is a community-based sexual assault counselling service operating in Melbourne's west.

A dedicated Counsellor Advocate from WestCASA will be available by appointment at Footscray Park every Monday, 9am-5pm.
