MyTimetable is an online class allocation system accessed through MyVU.

In MyTimetable you can:

  • browse available times for the units you're enrolled in
  • specify your time preferences for when you'd like to attend
  • change your allocated times after preferences have been sorted (subject to availability).

Please note that it's your responsibility to confirm the location of your lectures and tutorials.

Timetable & calendar tips

For semester and holiday dates, see our academic calendars.

Go to MyTimetable via MyVU

How to access MyTimetable:

After you log in to MyVU follow these instructions:

  • Australian campuses: Click on VU Calendar on the left hand sidebar. At the bottom of the VU Calendar click on the relevant link to MyTimetable.
  • Overseas campuses: Click MyTimetable on the left hand sidebar.

MyTimetable modes

Throughout the year, VU's MyTimetable will open in various modes that let you enter preferences, view your timetable or change allocations.

Here is an explanation of each mode with times that each take place:

  • Preference entry mode (9am): MyTimetable is open for you to enter your preferences. Your preferences are not handled in the order they are received, so you have plenty of time to review your options and build a timetable that works well.
  • Preference sort closed (8am): MyTimetable is closed as we sort your preferences and allocate you into classes.
  • Allocation open (9am): MyTimetable is open for you to view your personal timetable and change your allocations.
  • Read-only mode (3pm): MyTimetable is open for you to view your timetable, but you can't change allocations.
  • Closed for semester/block (3pm): MyTimetable is closed, and you can no longer view your personal timetable.

The dates for each mode of the timetable are listed under headings below.

Finding your classroom

MyTimetable can help you find where your scheduled classes are being held on campus or online.

To find your classroom:

  1. Visit MyTimetable through MyVU.
  2. Click on the scheduled class.
  3. Look for the campus and location information in the pop-up display.

Your class' location information is written out as 'C-BLR' in MyTimetable. This means:

  • campus (followed by a hyphen)
  • building

Explanation of Higher Education timetables

We have three types of timetables for our bachelor and postgraduate degrees taught in Melbourne.

Four-week Block Model timetable

For students who are studying in four-week blocks (one unit over four weeks), as part of the VU Block Model, where units are taught one after the other.

Eight-week Block Model timetable

For students who are studying in eight-week blocks (two units over eight weeks), as part of the VU Block Model, where units are taught one after the other.

Standard higher education timetable

For students studying multiple units at the same time over a 12-weeks semester, in a traditional course delivery model that is common at other universities.
