The course fees you pay as a VET/TAFE student will depend on whether you are a domestic student with a government-subsidised place or full-fee place, or an international student.

If you are enrolling as a government subsidised student, you will be required to pay a VET tuition fee and may be required to pay a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) as well as contribute towards the cost of materials for your course.

If you are not eligible for a government subsidised place, you will be charged the full-fee tuition rate, which is inclusive of the SSAF and any material fees.

Learner fee protection

Where Victoria University requires you to prepay your fees, either directly or through a third party, and in excess of a total of $1500 (being the threshold prepaid fee amount), your fees are protected under Schedule 6 of the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.

If VU is unable to provide services, you will either be:

  • placed into an equivalent course, such that:
    • the new location is suitable; and
    • you receive the full services for which you have prepaid at no additional cost; or
  • paid a refund of any prepaid fees for services yet to be delivered above the threshold prepaid fee amount.

Payment plan

Victoria University (VU) offers a payment plan option that allows eligible students pay fees in instalments via direct debit.

If you don't qualify for the plan, you'll need to pay the full amount up front.

Scholarships

Victoria University and Victoria University Polytechnic offer a range of equity and merit scholarships for TAFE students who are in financial need.

Applications for VU Equity scholarships can be submitted by students enrolled in certificate I, II, III, IV, diploma and advanced diploma courses for six months or longer.
